Sverige i fokus: how to use UHR's study material

Where to find UHR's Sverige i fokus as a PDF and MP3, what the corrected version means and how to mix reading with practice for the citizenship test.

Sverige i fokus is the name of UHR's study material for the citizenship test. You find it on UHR's website, as a PDF and as audio files. This guide shows where to find it and how to use it together with practice.

What is Sverige i fokus?

UHR is the Swedish Council for Higher Education (Universitets- och högskolerådet). It is the agency that runs the citizenship test. UHR made Sverige i fokus together with the Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket). The government gave them the task.

The material gives basic knowledge about how Swedish society works. UHR says it suits people who want to prepare by reading. UHR names the material first when it answers how you can prepare.

The test is only in Swedish. On UHR's page, the material is in Swedish. The page does not mention versions in other languages.

Where do you find the material?

Everything is on UHR's page Study material about Swedish society (in Swedish). The material comes in two forms:

  • PDF: the whole material in one file. You can read it on screen. You can also print it, and UHR says this is fine.
  • Audio files: you can also listen to each chapter. The files are in MP3 format, a common format for audio files.

Use the latest version

The PDF has been corrected. The corrected version is dated 10 August 2026. In it, UHR fixed a couple of errors. Two of the audio files were updated the next day, 11 August 2026, to match the corrected text.

Have you already read the older version? UHR says this does not affect your test result. But if you download the material now, take the version that is on UHR's page. Do not save an old copy that someone else has put online.

Example questions and other support from UHR

UHR shows five example questions on its website. They show what a question in the test can look like. They are on the page about the study material and on UHR's questions and answers page (in Swedish). You can see which topics the example questions cover in our guide What the citizenship test contains.

On the questions and answers page, UHR also explains how you can prepare. Besides the material, UHR mentions two things:

  • The summons (kallelsen). It arrives in your registration account about a week before test day. Read it carefully. No summons one week before the test? Contact UHR.
  • The page about test day. It has practical information about the day itself. We have our own guide about it: Test day: how it works.

How to mix reading and practice

It is easy to read many pages and then remember little. A good way is to switch between reading and answering questions. Do it like this:

  1. Read or listen to one part. Take one chapter at a time, not the whole material at once.
  2. Read about the same topic with us. Our topic pages explain each topic in plain words.
  3. Practise the topic. Go to practice mode and choose the topic. Read the explanation after each answer.
  4. Go back to the text. Was your answer wrong? Find that part in Sverige i fokus and read it again.

A plan for the whole time before the test is in the guide How to study for the citizenship test.

godkand.se is not UHR

godkand.se is an independent practice site. We are not a government agency and not part of UHR.

Our questions are our own. We wrote them ourselves and did not take them from Sverige i fokus. Every question has a source reference, which says where the facts come from.

UHR says there may be practice tests online that other people or companies have made. UHR does not stand behind such tests. No agency checks how good they are either. This also applies to godkand.se.
